After graduating with a Master’s degree in the Teaching of English from Columbia University’s Teachers College, Amy began her career as a high school  English and history teacher.  Subsequently, she taught fifth grade for fourteen years at Hunter College Elementary School in New York, New York, a public laboratory school for intellectually gifted and talented children. Following this, Amy taught at The School at Columbia University where her experiences ranged from teaching fourth graders and, for the last eighteen years, teaching middle schoolers English and history. A native New Yorker, Amy recently relocated to South Egremont, Massachusetts with her family and is learning all about the joys of commuting without a MetroCard.
