Dr. Scott Erickson joined the IMS community as Interim Head of School in July after spending the last 13 years as the Head of Phillips Brooks School (PBS) in Menlo Park, California. He led PBS through several ambitious fundraising efforts, significant campus updates, improved demand, and increased enrollment.

After completing post-doctoral work at Harvard, Scott landed in the classroom at St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire where he was the Humanities Division Head. He partnered with faculty to improve the student experience through a more-integrated core curriculum, expanding the electives program, and revising the academic schedule.

After nine years at St. Paul’s, Scott was Middle School Director and Director of Studies at National Cathedral School in Washington DC for four years, where he established a student support team and collaborated with teachers to create a new student handbook, covenant, and honor board.

Scott serves on the Common Sense Media Board and is a sought-after conference speaker. He also holds volunteer leadership roles with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and Independent School Management.

Scott loves being a head of school and everything that goes with it. He loves working with talented and committed students, faculty, and staff. He thoroughly enjoys partnering with engaged families, trustees, alums, neighbors, and community leaders.
