Unselfish Play Leads Girls to Victory
The game represented the Falcons’ best game to date, and IMS coaches felt the girls finally looked like a team on the field. There were some great connections among the offensive players, particularly between Sophie, Devon, and Courtney. Some of these connections resulted in goals; Devon and Courtney each scored off a quick-stick shot. Courtney’s goal was assisted by Devon, and vice versa. Meanwhile, Sophie, Grace , Haley , and Lexi also had assists. Lila played very well at attack wing, and she scored her first goal, a powerful shot that bounced in off the left pipe. Sophie led the team in scoring with five goals, her first scored within the first minute of the game. Grace also had a breakaway goal, and Devon’s total tally for the game came to four.
Away from the Hotchkiss goal, Lila and Emily each had an interception, Eloise and Haley led the team with ground ball control, and Grace and Eloise each had one draw control. Tess played an aggressive game in the goal, recording two saves in the first half and three saves in the second half. She and Emily made good connections on defense.
The Falcons look forward to their next game on Friday, May 7, against Millbrook.
