In honor of Día de los Muertos, third graders created altars to celebrate family members and pets who have passed away. This day, also known as the ‘Day of the Dead,’ is celebrated throughout Mexico, Central America, in the United States, and other parts of the world. During these days, families build altars in their homes surrounded with flowers, food, and burning candles to honor their loved ones. Third graders in Ms. Brown’s classroom shared their altars during a remembrance ceremony at Morning Circle; altars will be on display throughout the week on the Lower Campus.
