The Adventure Theater Workshop, led by actor, songwriter, and children’s author (and IMS faculty member!) Danny Tieger, challenges students to learn the art of storytelling and develop a unique, collaborative theater production. They perform their final piece in front of a live audience.

While it may seem like a lot to take on during a week of summer camp, the Adventure Theater Workshop is expertly constructed into phases designed to spark the imaginations of young students and hone each child’s strengths and talents. Between theater games, performance exercises, and improvisation techniques, the creativity begins to flow during on the first day of camp. Students then move into writing sessions by dreaming up a setting and illustrating elements of the story’s world. Drafts, second drafts, and the creation of props, costumes, and sets make the story come to life. Finally, after two rehearsals, the week culminates with a live performance of a brand new play written by the students; all families are invited to watch the magic unfold.
