Math Students Place in Regional and National Competitions
On November 15, 2017, a group of 37 of our seventh and eighth graders took the AMC 8 test, which is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. AMC stands for the American Mathematics Competitions from the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
Our MATHCOUNTS Team of four eighth graders (Harry Chang, Ryan Eom, Sinclair Shen, and Eric Zhang) participated in the MATHCOUNTS Competition Series at the regional level in Waterbury, CT on Feb 17, 2017. The team was recognized for the following distinctions:
- Second place team overall
- Most Improved team
- Eric got second place overall score for the competition
- Sinclair got third place in the countdown round
- QUALIFIED as a TEAM for the STATES but could not attend because it was during our March break.***
Congratulations to all of the participants and their math teachers and coaches on these achievements!
