Girls Hockey played away at New Canaan Country School this past Friday. One goal came from Frances and two came from Becca. Paisley distributed and had an assist. The rest of the team played with great poise. IMS was able to get the lead and keep the puck in their possession, allowing NCCS to score only once. The final score was 3-1—a swift victory for the Falcons.
Varsity Girls Basketball played Region 1 this past Friday. The team played unstoppable defense and came away with more than 15 total steals. These defensive stops led to many fast breaks and established a steady lead for the duration of the game. Put simply, IMS Girl’s Basketball began their weekend with an assertive win.
The next day, this team traveled to their first tournament of the season. They first played Gilbert, then Nonnewaug, and finally Housey, with each game getting progressively more competitive. Esther and Jocy played especially well in this stretch of games. Also, Emma’s scoring and IMS’s aggressive, full court press brought them to the championship game. The championship vs. Nonnewaug was truly exciting, with possession going back and forth between the two teams. IMS fell short in the last few seconds and came in an impressive second place for the tournament. Congratulations to these hoopers for their efforts this past weekend!
Varsity Boys Basketball played away versus Berkshire’s 3rds team this past Friday. IMS brought the heat to these high schoolers. Nosa, Jeremiah, and Jose ran the offense. The entire team played unshakable defense and had many steals that led to fast breaks. It was a physical game, but IMS kept a big enough lead to come out with the 13 point win. Wish Boys Basketball luck as they travel to play Rumsey Hall tomorrow.
JV Basketball has been practicing diligently since their last game against Washington Montessori School. This week they’ve been honing in on shooting form and free throws. They are eager to play again tomorrow at home versus Trinity Pawling. Come support the team!
5/6 Basketball played last Friday versus Sherman. The Falcons were on a roll this game. They swung the ball around and passed so that everyone got a touch on offense. On defense they reacted quickly to come away with plenty of steals and caused the opponents to turn the ball over several times. IMS came out with the definitive 22 point win. The youngsters play their next game on Wednesday at home vs. Washington Montessori School.
Varsity Squash has been practicing with intent this past week. They left for Philadelphia to play at Nationals. Wish them luck when they play their first match of the tournament tomorrow!
JV Squash played Salisbury this past Friday. Kenden brought his A-game and managed to ace his opponent on nearly every one of his serves. Alex stepped up and played one of Salisbury’s most challenging opponents. The whole team played extremely well and displayed incredible progress throughout the course of the season. IMS brought home the 10-2 victory. They look forward to scrimmaging at Hotchkiss next week.
Ski Racing has had bad luck with the weather, but they make the most out of the tough conditions. Their dryland practices are equipped to get them in shape and ready for their upcoming races. IMS races tomorrow at Catamount versus Washington Montessori and Rumsey Hall at 3:30pm.
Swimming has started working on their starts. The team has been working on being explosive off the diving block and getting the proper form on their dives. They are ready for their next meet at Shepaug this upcoming Wednesday. Wish them luck!
Go Falcons!
