The spring athletics season took a while to get rolling due to many days of rain and melting snow. As the fields and courts began to dry out, the Falcons hit the ground running. Many of the first games of the season were canceled due to weather but a few teams have been able to compete thus far.

The Softball team started off the season with a tough loss against Salisbury Central School but followed that up with back-to-back wins against Renbrook and Chase Collegiate. Hollis Churchill has been a great contributor both behind the plate as catcher and at the plate, where she has many hits and numerous RBIs.

Varsity Baseball opened its season against Renbrook. Ninth grader Hayden Riva took the mound and made quick work of the Renbrook team the first time through the order. At the plate, Riva reached base every time up, drawing two walks and getting two singles. Hayden also successfully stole three bases. Seventh grader Keenan Wysocki had a crucial RBI in the sixth inning to increase the lead and then in the top of the seventh, made a catch at the fence to hold a runner at third base and keep the lead safe. Falcons won, 6-3.

JV Boys Lacrosse played Rumsey Hall in its season opener. First-year lacrosse player Pato Del Valle scored 3 goals while fifth grader Rusty Chandler added a goal and 2 assists. The Falcons had many chances late in the game to take the lead but the game ended in a 6-6 tie. Next game is against Berkshire Country Day.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse opened up against Kent 3rds. Right off the bat, the boys showed they are going to be a tough out this year. Lars Heidenreich dominated at the X and Ima Dunand scored a hat trick. On the other end of the field, the defense allowed a mere two goals, led by ninth grader Charlie Comfort. Falcons won, 10-2.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse started off playing Millbrook. This was the first lacrosse experience for many members of the team, but the girls battled hard and played well in a 14-6 loss. The girls followed that game up with another tough game against Dutchess Day School. Across the board, they showed much improvement and fought to a three-goal loss. As the season progresses, this young team will improve greatly!

The rest of the athletic teams will begin playing games shortly and there is much more to come as the season begins in earnest.

Stay tuned!
