With spring sports fully underway and rosters finalized, this week has seen our teams begin their competition schedules.

Varsity Tennis hosted Kent on Wednesday, falling 5-4 in a closely contested match. The team is looking to build on last year’s successful season, where they achieved more victories than any Tennis team in recent history at IMS. Many new faces constitute this year’s team so Coach Rincon is working diligently to get everyone up to speed. They look to bounce back on Friday against Taft.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse opened their season up on the road in a game against Renbrook. With a very inexperienced team, the first game is always a feeling-out process and while they improved drastically from the beginning of the game to the end, they were not able to complete the comeback. Renbrook 6, IMS 9. With their first game behind them and some much-needed experience gained, the team can now get back to practice and play again next Wednesday at home versus Miss Halls.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse played their first game on Centennial Field against Millbrook. It was a strong showing on the scoreboard for IMS, but also illuminated many weaknesses that the team will need to address as the season progresses. Many members of the team got their first Varsity playing time, and for some, their first Varsity points as well. The defense was stellar and shut down the opponent for most of the game. Millbrook 1, IMS 9. They’ll play two more home games this week, Friday against Hotchkiss and Saturday against Eaglebrook.

The rest of the teams are gearing up for their first matches of the season. Softball is up next as they end the week at Oakwood Friends School for their first game.

We hope to see you on the sidelines cheering on our teams this spring!

Go Falcons!
