We are delighted to welcome back The IMS Community Art Show and Contest, an annual event that celebrates the range of artistic expression found in our local community. This year, the show returned for the first time since the spring of 2020, when the show was canceled due to the pandemic. In fact, the pieces currently on display were selected by a jury for the 2020 show. We are honored to finally be able to share this beautiful work.
The first Community Art Show took place in 2014, to celebrate the opening of the new Student Center building. The IMS Board of Trustees and a committee that included Trustee Emeritus Samuel Posey P’97,’01 helped curate art from local artists, many of whom were current and past parents. The success of that show prompted this beloved yearly tradition.
This year, the opening reception was held on Thursday, April 20. Sam Posey was there, along with many other friends of IMS: current parents, alumni, neighbors, visiting artists and art enthusiasts. Our guest judging panel included Karline Moeller ’00 who has recently relocated back to Millerton with her husband and young daughter. The exhibit, which is on display until May 3, includes the works of three current IMS students: Eva Borges, Chloe Kim, and Katherine LaFond.
