ON THE COURT

With the leadership of newly named captains Jessica Lomo and Emily Tan, the Girls Varsity Basketball team has continued to find success on the court. The Falcons have been focusing on pushing the tempo and have been developing their team chemistry throughout the course of the season. Both Lughano Nyondo and Jessica Lomo have been punishing to the offenses of opponents with countless steals and pressure on the defensive end. In addition, Claire Yoon has been shooting consistently and has been a leader on the offensive front.  

In their home opener the Boys Varsity Basketball team secured a high scoring win against the Gunnery and produced a lot of points on the offensive end of the court. The Falcons will look to continue their winning streak and will prepare for upcoming games at the Suffield Tournament as well as a home game against Rumsey on parents weekend. 

The JV Boys Basketball has been an exciting team to watch over the course of the season and is one that certainly never gives up, showing grit and fight during all games. On Friday January 10th, the 5th and 6th grade team fought hard until the end of the game to come back from a large deficit at half time. After a low scoring first two quarters the Falcons started chipping away and capitalizing on opportunities in order to end the game within three points. The team will look to find consistency throughout the rest of the season and start strong from the first whistle. 

The Varsity Squash team has continued to dominate on the court as the season progresses. Up and down the ladder the team has continued to work on their consistency and controlling the T throughout the match. The Falcons will be preparing for upcoming matches against Salisbury and to rematch Albany Academy who they defeated earlier in the season. 

All members of the Developmental Squash team have shown significant improvement over the first half of the winter season. The team has been focusing on footwork and utilizing ladder drills to increase their speed, as well as on court drills to increase their ability to move quickly in various match situations. In addition, the team has been continuing to develop their Squash IQ and determine how to handle various situations and challenge their opponents on court. 
 


ON THE ICE

On Friday, January 10 the Varsity Hockey team made a comeback win against Trinity Pawling with a final score of 4-2. After going down by one goal early in the game, the Falcons came back from behind with Cole Mollica, and Dylan Lachaine each scoring one goal and Giaco Traggio scoring two goals to solidify the win. Carter Foley was a brick wall throughout the game, only allowing two goals and making 19 saves throughout the three periods to lead the Falcons to victory. 

The JV Hockey team has been working diligently to prepare for their first game later in January against Rumsey Hall. From improving their skating and movement on the ice, and developing the chemistry among lines of players, the team will certainly be prepared for their first competitive game. 
 

 
ON THE SLOPES
 
With the guidance of Coach Sleboda the Ski Race team had their first meet of the season on Monday January 13th at Catamount. The Falcons secured first and second place in the meet with Branson Figueroa finishing in first. Coach Sleboda is very proud of the team which includes two athletes who raced in their first meet on Monday. 

Members of the Recreational Ski team have completed many successful runs at Catamount Mountain this term. All members of the team have shown improvement and are hoping for more snow in the near future.
 

 
IN THE POOL

After returning from break the Swim Team has worked diligently to improve stamina, speed and technique which paid off in their meet against a combined team from Litchfield & Wamogo Middle Schools at the CT Junior Republic pool. The Falcons dominated first place finishes in many events including, Derrick Dellea finishing first in the 50 fly, as well as Ryan Kim and Henry Burke taking first and second place in an exhibition heat of the boys 50 free. For the girls, Quisha Lee placed first in the 100 IM and Alexa Billo enjoyed first and second place finishes in her events. Overall it was an excellent team effort and the team looks forward to their next meet on January 29th. 
 

 
IN THE STUDIO

The Dance team has recently selected a song that they will be creating their own choreography for. Both Coach Al- Nemri and Coach Boynton are excited to see what the team composes and help them produce their best work. Coach Boynton has continued to teach more ballet and jazz moves, in addition to some dance combinations over the course of the winter term. Through a training routine that consists of both cardio, strengthening of important muscle groups, and repetition of moves, the team will certainly be prepared for their performance at the end of the term.
