Athletic Trainers

Indian Mountain School offers Athletic Training coverage for all student athletes and teams.

The goal of the Athletic Training program is to help athletes through injury prevention and risk management, evaluating and assessing current orthopedic-based conditions, rehabilitation, and treatment to further increase recovery and clearance back to full participation as soon as medically safe to do so. The athletic trainers work closely with the Health Center, nurse practitioners, orthopedic MDs, and other local healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive medical care is always available for our students.

Our athletic trainers are board certified through the Board of Certification (BOC), which oversees and ensures continuing education and professional development. Our athletic trainers also adhere strictly to the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) code of ethics and treat all patients with professionalism and the highest level of care. They hold a license to practice in the state of Connecticut and maintain current Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) certifications.

Athletic Training Services

The athletic trainers are present during practices and home games to respond to any urgent needs, as well as to assist visiting teams with any various needs. The priority for Indian Mountain School athletic trainers is to ensure that all athletes are participating safely and to be prepared for any incident or injury that may occur during practice or competition.

Max Abendroth, ATC/L, has been the Head Athletic Trainer at Indian Mountain School since the Fall of 2016, after graduating from Springfield College in the Spring of 2016.
