Avery joined the teaching faculty at IMS in the spring of 2024. Prior to that he taught at both the Salisbury School and the Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire. An avid outdoorsman he constantly looks for ways to get his students outside the classroom and into the hills of northwest Connecticut. Avery lives in Lakeville with his family and his two children attend the lower campus. He coaches the alpine ski team and the baseball team in the spring as well as working in other extracurricular activities. Avery attended St. Lawrence University, with concentrations in Environmental Science, Sociology & Education.
