With the guidance of Coach Sleboda and Coach Nania, the Ski Racing team had a very successful first race of the season at Mohawk Mountain on Wednesday, February 3.
IMS athletes competed in the Giant Slalom under the leadership of Captains of the Week Jamie Levine and Marisin McLain. The Falcons dominated Washington Montessori, sweeping the top 9 spots at the race. In their first-ever race representing IMS, James Snow (Grade 9), Wynn Stern (Grade 5), and Jack Moucha (Grade 9) finished in the top three places respectively while Lylli Stern (Grade 7) took the top female finish in 4th place.
Yesterday, February 10, the team took to the mountain for another race,this time on the Mohawk Mountain course on “timber” and competed in a Full Hill Giant Slalom. Jack Moucha and Leah Foehrenbach were the captains of the week, and Leah competed in her second ever ski race. The falcons had another victorious performance with James Snow finishing in first place once again, and Wynn, Jack, and Lylli placing in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place (respectively) once again. In addition, both Henry Snow (Grade 9) and Winston Walter (Grade 8) moved up the ranks with strong performances.
IMS will compete once again at Mohawk Mountain on Wednesday, February 24.
