Varsity Boys Basketball has been playing very well of late. In the past 5 games, the team is 4-1, including avenging an earlier loss to Hotchkiss. This past weekend, the boys traveled to Greenwich for their annual tournament. While placing 4th place, they played many close games and represented Indian Mountain School proudly. The team has received contributions from many players this season. Zobran Elias, a first year basketball player, has started almost every game and consistently takes on the opponent’s best offensive player. Third year player Fred Coulibaly is the Falcons’ second leading scorer and has played well all year long.

Varsity Girls Basketball has had an excellent season thus far and is 3-1 in their last four games. After a tough loss to a talented Rumsey squad, the girls ran off three straight victories in dominant fashion. With most of the team being first year basketball players, the Coaches have been challenged to teach basic skills but also put the team in a position to be competitive. Jessica Lomo is an intimidating defender, making it very difficult for the other team’s point guard to advance the ball up court. Emily Tan has provided solid secondary scoring and has learned to move well with and without the basketball.

JV Boys Basketball had the opportunity recently to play two games in the same day. The 5th, 6th, and 7th graders traveled to Washington Montessori and the 8th and 9th graders took on Mizzentop. Remarkably, both teams were able to come away victorious and with the exact same score in each game. This day meant that each Coach was on their own but this proved not to be an obstacle as they were able to overcome the adversity.

The Varsity Hockey team faced a very tough schedule recently and is 1-3 in the last four games. The lone win came against Rippowam where a last second goal by Tieler Traggio gave the Falcons a 6-5 victory. This team is lead by some very competent 9th graders but most of the team consists of younger players and the future of IMS hockey is very bright. Coaches Pecchia and Decock have done a tremendous job of getting the team to play together and trust in each other. With a handful of games remaining, the team looks to get back to their winning ways.

The JV Hockey played its last two games against Rumsey Hall. The first game was a valiant effort but they were not ready for a Rumsey team that skated hard and got many pucks to the net. IMS fell 5-2 but knew next time would be different. One week later in the rematch, IMS started slow but came on very strong. Lead by a couple of late goals and stellar goaltending by Anthony Sorriento, the game ended in a 4-4 tie.

The Squash team has played quite a few matches of late. In a dominant performance, IMS took down both Dutchess Day School and Trinity-Pawling in a three way match. This was followed up by a match against Berkshire. IMS fought hard and was even able to have a few players get their first match experience. However, the more seasoned Berkshire squad was came away with the victory. Warren Wang has been at the top of the ladder for the entire season and sets the tone in each practice and game. As a 9th grader, Warren has been able to lead his teammates and help set the bar high for future team captains.

The Swim team has swam in three meets this year. In each meet, IMS has had many individual victories and even one team win. It can be challenging to achieve a team win because in order to do so, the team needs to receive contributions from more than just the top couple of swimmers. That said, it is very impressive what Ryan Tse has accomplished thus far. He has yet to lose a race this season, despite being entered in some events that are not his strongest. He set multiple pool records in a recent meet and has a very bright future in competitive swimming.

Ski Race has a very small team this season but that has not kept them from being very successful. Theo Stiffler and Eduardo Rodriguez have placed top 10 in every race so far and Theo has a couple of 1st place performances. Marisin McLain has also had multiple top 10 finishes in the girls divisions. With cold temperatures and fresh snow, the conditions are perfect for IMS to continue an outstanding season!

With so much success already, it will be a tall task for the IMS teams to continue at this pace but the teams are up the challenge!
